传承中华文化 彰显民族特色        --Robbie在晚晴端午茶话会上的发言

   我在中国的时间加起来已经好几年了。期间， 我走遍了海南到呼和浩特，从香格里拉、大理到上海、兰州、西安和武汉。

     呼和浩特和兰州的神话般的博物馆，高耸的香格里拉的空气的稀薄，西安的历史底蕴，公园和中餐馆的喧闹都深深地印在我的脑海里。

     从音乐、戏剧、舞蹈和绘画就能认识中国文化的习俗、传统，了解中国语言及其艺术要素。

     每一种文化都展示了每一个人的身份。 如果我们失去了我们的文化，我们也就会失去自我。

     这就是我们为什么在国外的社团如此重要。有了这样

的社团，我们就可以更深地感觉到我们自己的存在，我

们可在自己的社团尽情享受和庆祝属于我们自己的文

化。

      如果我们不参与这样的活动，我们和我们的家庭就会逐渐失去我们自己的语言、习俗、传统和我们自身的身份， 我们必须热情支持我们自己的社团。

      晚晴非常幸运地得到社区各基金组织支持，这些基金组织为我们的各项安排和活动提供了经费。 我们的责任是回馈更广泛的社会，利用每一机会通过表演建立对外联系和展示中华文化。 

     我赞赏理事会和其他为晚晴服务的志愿者，他们为晚晴做了很好的服务，你们同意吗？

My time spent in China has added up to several years.  I was able to travel , from Hainan to Hohhot, from Shang-ri-la and Dali to Shangai with Lianzhou, Xi’an and Wuhan in between.

 Many impressions and photos were imprinted - from the fabulous Museums in Hohhot and Lianzhou, the lack of oxygen in Shangrila, the history in Xian, massed singing in public parks  and  the noise in Chinese restaurants.

The overall  picture is an awareness of the elements of  Chinese customs, traditions, language and its arts – music,  drama, dance and paintings.

Ones culture provides each of us with an identity. If we lose our culture we lose a perception of who we are.

This is why our societies in foreign lands are so important – places where we can feel we belong, and where we can enjoy celebrating our culture.

If we do not participate, we, and our families, gradually lose their language, their customs and traditions –their cultural identity.  We must enthusiastically support our Society.

This Society is immensely fortunate in receiving funds  gifted by community Trusts which fund  our programmes and activities.  Our responsibility is to give back to our wider community – taking every opportunity to make connections and show-case our culture through public performance.

I commend the Committee and other volunteers to you. They serve the Society well.
